My ac broke today during the heatwave here in li ny. I came home to a very hot house. I checked my tank and notice my zoos, hammer and bubble coral not looking so good. I did a 10% change with cold water. What else can i do.????

BIG FANS, Open canopy and doors. Walmart sells a 15" desktop fan that blow like a rocket for less than $10. Fan needs to blow the top of the water. It will cool in less than 6 hours.

good luck

Float bags of ice to lower the temp, replace often, and use a fan as suggested. Be prepared to top off a lot of evaporation. Good luck,

Floating bags of ice until you get the walmart fan installed. Clips right on to the top of your tank and those two things WILL bring it down to a safe range fairly quickly.

I agree with the bag of ice idea. Next time dont add cold water change water as it wil put the corals and therest of the livestock in more shock than they were in, in the 93F water.

Also, going topless and having eggcrate to cover the tank for the jumpers will also help in heat transfer with evaporation.

You can also feeze some water inside 2 liter bottles and float them in your tank. This may work better than the bags of ice, not as messy.

before i got my a/c units installed, i was using small water bottles frozen, they work WELL :)

I would also turn off the lights for the time being. They tend to give off a tremendous amount of heat. Don't worry, your corals will be fine with just ambient room light for a few days.

Someone told me that during the sumemr, they switched to having the lights on at night when its cooler, and having the lights off during the day when its hotter.

Turn off the lights and add FANS, FANS, FANS. A couple of simple $8 Wal Mart clip on fanas are your best friend in a situation like this. No changing out melted bottles or anything you just clip them on the side and turn them on. If you have multiple pumps you may want to cut back on some of them as pumps create heat.

93 is very hot for, ice now, then fans. A fan is not going to bring you tank down more than a few degrees. Turn off all unnecessary pumps. Keep an eye on your corals and remove any that need to be asap.

Getting your AC fixed will help the most of course.
