Not sure which forum this fits in, but anyway! The other day i stopped in a Chinese food store and picked up a 500 pack of Nori for $14.99. For some reason i never thought of looking for it there, i had just been buying it at my local grocery store at $2 for 5 sheets.

I have also purchased Nori from a simular store.
Usually if it is ok for you to eat it, is ok for your fish.
Just be careful of preservatives.

Ditto,
Some have soy & hot pepper seasoning added to them.
I toss them out when they start to loose there green color.
500 sheets is alot of nori.

I found an asian market nearby and my fish aren't liking the first kind I bought so I'm going over to buy a few different ones. The kind I got was dried w/o any seasoning but it's too tough, almost like a membrane. They carried about a dozen different kinds as well as some in the freezer section.

At the price i paid, i can (and probably will) find myself throwing a lot a way, but still come out ahead compared to buying at LFS.

Went to Asian Market today. They had so many diffrent kinds of Nori seaweed. But the main one they had was the

Roasted Seaweed, Is this ok for my tangs or does it have to be the dried kind? The roasted said 100% seaweed so nothing else was added but i was too worried.

Instead of throwing it away just sell some of it off at a nominal price and everyone will come out ahead.

It's all roasted. Just don't get the flavored/seasoned.

Just read the ingredients and make sure the only thing in it is seaweed. Watch out for the thicker style. Some fish may take it but I had to go back and get some of the really thin type or my fish ignored it.

sweet, thanks guys.

I mentioned roasted because there was roasted, toasted and dried. They had the roaste din the biggest quantity.

I did see the seasoned kind, like teriyaki, etc, I knew not to get those but wasn't suree if roasted was ok either. They all come with those chemical bags in them also to keep it fresh

The package I bought that was too rubbery for my kole and foxface was just dried. I wondered about the roasted so I didn't get it the first time I bough nori. I have a huge package of it that my fish won't eat so I'm going to give it to a freind or something with a more aggressive eating tang and see if it can be used.

I also have a large package which will last me two lifetimes! Send a large self addressed envelope and I will mail you some free.:D

Off course, add $4.95 for the zip lock bag.

Actually, print "Marine Nori Supreme" on some heavy weight paper, put it in a zip lock with some of the nori from the Asian market, and sell it on eBay.
