does anyone know how to set up the perfect refugium filtration and if you do please let me know and if any one has on detailed pictures would be perfect :)

there's no real perfect way. Its all about personal preference. I like having the fuge and the skimmer on opposite sides with a return in the middle. Some people like running everything from one end to the other i.e drain to skimmer to fuge to return or drain to fuge to skimmer to return.

If you are growing macro algea, don't skimp on the lighting, plants need lots of light to grow too, just not as much as coral. Having a decent about of light will let it pull out nutrients as fast as it can.

Is something like this adequate? The fuge section of my sump is roughly 8 gal. (see the pictures in my photo gallery.

Plants will actually grow better with 6500K which has a balanced spectrum, or look for full spectrum bulbs. Just look for a freshwater fixture, you may be able to get it cheaper.

Stay away from culerpa!!!


I just finished pulling all of it out of my sump in exchange for chaeto. It made a MESS!!!
