We are just starting up a new nano and wondered where were some good sites or LFS to get some nice looking zoanthids.

Also, what is the opinion of using or not using Protein Skimmers for nanos...

If you come down to Englewood, Keys Island has some decent zoos. Zomania.com and for the high end stuff Ultimatefrags.com is good.

Need to know if your looking for a hang-on-back skimmer or have a sump that you could go in-sump with? How big is the nano and who makes it?

We were just reading that some individuals prefer not to use a skimmer because of over skimming. We were curious of others opinions. We purchased a Tru Vu 6 gallon nano reef with built-in filtration.

We might have to make a trip to check out the LFS's in the Denver area...Thanks for the info Cardgenius...

If you can't have a refugium, or don't want to do fairly regular water changes, you may need a skimmer. Some corals, clams, and other filter-feeders seem to do better without skimming according to some. I don't have personal experience (I have stopped skimming my 110 for the moment, and the refugium is providing enough nutrient export that I haven't noted any problems so far).

You don't really need a skimmer in a nano if you do weekly water changes. I have a 12 gallon that has been running for almost 2 years now with no skimmer and it does really well.

i also have a nano and i do skim.......i have no problems with ever over skiming and after a while and your tank becomes stable you can just let the tank run for a while.....i have actually let my tank go for 2 months with no water change but i do dose some stuff....6 is small i used to have a 10 G so you may not want to skim. you cam get frags on here to and some times you dont even have to pay
