I am in the process of building/designing a 3 tier tank stand.

20L
50
20L

90 Gal total with each flowing into the one below it. Has anyone ever tried this and if so, how did it work and do you still have the plans...

I would recommend this:

Build each of the 3 levels as a frame with studs every 16"

-------------------------------
- - - - - -
- - - - - -
- - - - - -
-------------------------------

This is how you build load bearing walls....

Then use 4X4 as the legs in the four corners and BOLT the 3 tiers to them at the desired heights.

In the back, for stablility, i would use a piece of timber as a brace from the top left to bottom right... putting a bolt into each of the three tiers and preferably into the 4X4 legs as well.

For overall good strength use 2X4s for everything except the legs which should be 4X4s... its probably a bit overkill, but it will be super strong. Just make sure the overflow boxes or your drains dont get blocked by the wood, otherwise shorten the leghth between the studs.
