i passed by Mermaid Aquarium yesterday and bought some corals out of their new endless tank set up. The set up is awesome and the coral prices were mindblowing. Its the best display tank in the bay area.

The set up speaks for itself. Max at Mermaid Aquarium did a great job.

I was wondering what the hell an endless tank is... and more importantly how do I build one! :D But yeah that Edgeless tank is quite nice, one of the locals had one at one time (Mona? Sorry my memory is failing as to whom) they did say that it is a bit of a PITA to keep clean though.

ReefCherie has an edgless or zero edge clam tank.

It is awesome. Max had it set up at the WMC a couple of months ago. People (myself included) kept poking the edge to see where the water was streaming down the panes of glass

Heh, they're all endless tanks. You keep tweaking them, and dumping money in them. It never ends :D

Ahh thanks Eileen it was Cherie. Yeah Mermaid had the same tank at the BA-CFM it was impressive as it was even without all the nifty mini-colonies and clams in it!

Zero Edge, Endless, Edgeless , all the same thing, but Zero Edge and Endless are the two most commonly used ;)

There's a Thai place in Berkeley that makes very good calamari. That's coming from a professional calamari eater of 30 years. I was eating the stuff before I could even say the name

Back to the thread though...

the water does go over the top... it runs down the outside edge of the glass into the gutter.

The water does go over the top, that's what an ZeroEdge tank is about ;) . The water is pushed up thru the bottom (1-way valve inline), and it overflows on all four sides. There's a gutter running around the whole tank that drops down into the sump. If done right, it just looks like a cube of water.

That tank rocks. Did you guys see all the new Acans he just got? Awesome giant pieces! Some of you guys might want to take advantage of some of those big colonies.

that is sick!, sorta like the way they do some of the swimming pools.

how do you clean the glass? Shut down the flow?

GreshamH
07/09/2006, 09:00 PM
Same way as a normal one, but shutting it down will help keep the splashing down. A magnetic algea scrubber can do both sides at once :D
