PhosGuard in a macro algea tank

I have a 30G macroalgea growing tank with about 20 lbs of live rock. hair algea is starting to grow in the rocks so i am thinking of using Phosguard in the tank. I've been successfull in using Phosguard to control hair algea in my main tank. Since this is a magroalgea growing tank, do you think this will retard the growth of my macroalgea? what other effects do you think phosguard will have with my macroalgea?

At a minimum it will retard the growth of the macro because its stealing food from it. This could shock it into going sexual. (big mess):(
