Dunno the exact year, but my boss has a Lincoln LS that's a couple years old, and he loves it. Taken a few road trips w/ it, and it's always done him very well.
I've had a Mercury for the last 5 years, and she's done me right as well.

Go with the 200, I and my friend each had a 2000 LS and we had nothing but problems. I had windows that would come down and never go back up again, he had a bad electrical problem and had to rewire the whole car. His car was at the dealer for 2 months!!!!

Did you buy it new? Also when did the problem accrue, time wise?

Bobby, I would bet their is an owner's forum out there somewhere. You might check with the manufacturer's website or do a Google search.

My dad has a 2001 and it's a really nice car. He has the 6-cyl version and it's no drag car but it gets the job done. Really nice interior, really gives audi a run for their money. The car is all aluminum, really nice suspension, the jaguar s-type is based on it. Overall a steal at the price you can get them for.

The hood and front fenders are aluminum, the rest of the car is traditional steel unit-body construction.

Aluminum may sound cool and lower the weight by a few dozen pounds, but fill the gas tank or bring a friend and the difference is gone. It's even worse if you get in a fender bender - try finding a body shop that's used to working on aluminum cars.

No you didn't scare my off, I went to the dealer and did a test drive, a very sweet car!! But no insurance company will insure me, 19 with only 6 months of driving experience in the state of NC. And I didn't have 12,000 to pay cash. And the dealer didn’t want to work with me, they didn’t want to replace the wipers that were broken and the rearview mirror.

But when i get the driving experience I an GETTING a LS.

Buying a car without insurance is a bad risk even if you did have $12,000 laying around.

I don't understand how it's even legal in some states. Get in a little fender bender and have someone sue you for a million for pain & suffering, due to their "back problems," and your life is over.

Well I could get liability but not full coverage.

Still, you're basically writing off the $12k.

If this is your first car and you can't manage to get a loan and/or insurance on your own, maybe you should be looking for something cheap that doesn't matter at all? It would probably end up better in the long run, at least in the financial sense it definitely will.

You can have a lot of fun with a $2k car. In the meantime, spend a year or two establishing your credit history and a clean driving record and the banks will be fighting over you when you go back for a newer, nicer car at 21 or 22.
