many many times, i get a call from a client who missed a court date because "i never got the court order". yeah, right. well, it didn't come back to the office so i know you got it, don't try to tell me you didn't blah blah blah.
well, today i had a letter with the accompanying court order returned to the office. the name wasn't familiar but that's nothing new. unless it's a big time repeat offender, i get so many "one-timers" that i seldom remember them. so i opened it thinking i would just put it in the client's file, which is what i normally do. i don't waste time trying to find current addresses because so many of these people either live on the streets, in their cars or move every other day.
then, i happened to glance at the date on the letter. november 15, 2005. seven months to the day! i looked at the post mark to double check and it was the same. so i guess from now on, i better give them the benefit of the doubt.
oh no, am i getting soft?? ;)
