Kinda bored, so I thought I'd make this.

EDIT..... Huh, somehow I feel I should have refreshed my browser. I don't think this belongs in the DIY forum....:worried:

a-1? if you knew how to take care of your meat you wouldn't need any extra sauce!

at the restaurants I order medium rare since they like to overcook anyway, so it usually comes to me medium well! just depends on the restaurants though! lol

Medium well to well, but NEVER less than medium well.

Can someone please explain why the fancy resturants and the snooty people that eat there insist that tuna only be cooked to a depth not to exceed 1/4" on each side, regardless of the thickness of the cut? :eek2:

tuna has its best flavor just seared,,,if at all.

i lightly season it and it's cooked rare, my husband's the same way.

Medium rare with light to moderate seasoning....haven't graduated to rare yet. Just can't do it. But I love some lightly seasoned cooked mushrooms on the side too.

Christy....if you like A1, you should try the A1 marinades that they have. "Classic" and "Garlic & Herb" are our favorites. Classic steak (not-so-great cuts of steak...I'm not crazy enough to ruin a GOOD steak with it) and the Garlic & Herb for pork. Marinade for a full day and then grill (or bake in the case of a pork tenderloin)......YUM!!!

Oh, on the tuna question, that is sashimi. I like tuna cooked any way, but sashimi is the best IMO. :D

just threaten my steak with a Bic lighter and serve it to me.(generally I cook a 1" thick steak about 2.5-3.5 minutes each side - basically just long enough to sear grill lines in and sear the fat)

Ive been known to munch on raw Beef stew cubes while grocery shopping.

let the "ewwwwwwwwww"s commence:lol:

lightly seasoned? is that what you call it when you don't shower for a few days?

i agree with the A-1. If it's cooked properly there's no need.

Gus, though some sashimi can be cooked, for tuna it pretty much always indicates totally raw - the stuff lightly burnt on the edge but totally raw in the middle would just be "seared" tuna.

About that steak: Walk it by a sunlamp and I'm happy. I like it still mooing. If it's trying to finish my salad before I do, it's perfect.

I voted raw, but the ideal steak is somewhere between raw and rare. Nice grill marks on the outside and warmed through.

It depends on the cut of steak, but usually rare to medium rare.

If someone other than I cooks the steak, and they stab it with a fork, I would probably go ahead and get it cooked more thoroughly for health risk reasons.

I'd have to say, serve my steak prepared to a condition a pre-vet student on the verge of flunking, has a better than 50/50 chance of reviving. Then it's just right!

I like Medium Well. It's safe and the juices run clear. Plus, if it is slightly undercooked or slightly overcooked, I'm still in the range that I like. I used to order Medium, but then I would get Medium Rare on occassion and I didn't like it. Though, I'll eat it.

grilled 10 Omaha steaks last Saturday for my Dad's birthday party. Mine has to be rare. I like it best when I can hear the cow mooing.

Medium rare here.

salt and pepper on the steaks while they are cooking. that's plenty of seasoning for Omaha steaks. Google Omaha steaks. Best deals around plus they taste oh so good!!!!

I like mine rare-medium rare. I like to cut little slits in mine and stuff chunks of garlic in it and let them flavor the meat all day. Mmmmmm...

I want to taste the meat. Not the garlic. Garlic is great but not on everything, especially my steak.

A month ago I purchased a half a beef from a good buddy rancher of mine. He runs a 6-700 pair operation. Also does about 15 head a year in a little feedlot setup on the ranch, grass fed for 6 months, and grained heavy for another 10/12 mo. with the last 120 days of 8-10 lbs corn/day.
I had the butcher hang & age it 25 days, I picked up the meat this morning. Graded out at choice.
I just pulled a few new yorks off the grill at a near perfect rare
OMG, what a meall
Omaha eat your heart out!

Medium Rare, Sprinkled with a Good Quality Lemon Pepper and Grilled over Charcoal.

No Sauces required except in the casy of getting a bad steak at a restaurant.

Man these pictures are making me hungry. It's off to the store I go this weekend!!!

I personally like my steak medium rare.

In a discover magazine article about a year or 2 ago they talked about cooking meat. Anything cooked past medium well will release carcinogens into your food. It is best to eat meat cooked medium. Also they burnt sections are the worst, so stay away from black and blue.
