I know some wrasses cover themselves with a slime cocoon at night.

Every moring I notice a big clear slime ball floating in the tank. Usually right after my cleaner wrasse is present.

Do you think that is from the wrasse? Its pretty neat. Anyone else experience this effect?

I had a cleaner wrasse a couple of times and yes they do sleep in slime cocoons. I don't know if that's what you're seeing floating, but I guess it could be.

I thought so, just wanted to see if others experience this with their wrasse too!Fwiw, I never see him in his cocoon. Would like to though.

I bet it protects them from ich infections and other bacterial diseases. After all, ich is known to infect the same fish that sleeps in the same spot night after night. Ich also lays dormant untill after dark, IIRC. Then hunts for a host.
