I just got a blue hippo tang today. It was about 1.5 inches long. I put it in the tank and everything was fine all day. I just got home and the blue hippo is missing! I looked in the dual over flows and nothing. I checked the filter sock in the sump and nothing. I only have 4 green chromis, a sebae clown, a goby, and a small hi hat in the tank along with crabs and snails. I can only think of two things. It jumped and the cat got it. Or the BTA had a very expensive meal. I am very ****ed off right now!

be a bit more patient, sometimes when they are spooked they wedge themselves into a crack in the rock and stay there for a while... give it a day or two.... after that i would start to worry.

Are BTA's know for eating small fish? Could a fish be that dumb to swim into one?

I bet it is just hiding. Give it a few days and it will probably come out.

i had a small one that i didn't see for a few days. then he/she finally came out. if you have a lot of LR that would be my guess. Don't freak yet.

Agree with the others, it's probably just hiding. I have 3 of around 3" and whilst they are out and about on a regular basis now, they still dash for the rocks and hide frequently - and they can wedge themselves into tiny cracks !

Give it some time. When I got my firefish, I didn't see it for almost a month!!!

Well I am at work and I cant stop thinking about my missing fish. Hopefully when I get home I will see it swiming around. I have over 100 lbs of live rock so I hope its in there. Nice picture there of the hippo.

Sometimes they actually can go inside the rocks. I had one that I could see inside the rock because there was a small hole on it and I could see the blue tang almost as if she was playing hide and seek and was peering out at me. They can be very skittish and lay on thier sides too wedging themselves into the tiniest cracks. I'm glad you found her. They are beautiful fish and can be quite expensive as well.
