Ok, besides NO Range. I don't have a chiller, and have had a hard time with acroporas. Liveaquaria.com says 72-78, but I've heard 80-84 is better from some reefers.

Any thoghts from you successfull sps keepers? and how wide a daily flucuation is acceptable?

Thanks!!!

Higher temps like 80-84 will give you faster growth, but you risk bleaching your corals if you temp increased a degree or to, plus higher temps increase your chance of disease outbreaks (bacteria etc. grow rapidly under high temps) I keep my tank 78-79. Anywhere between 74-80 is fine. I'd try to keep fluctuations to within 2 degrees if you can. I doubt that's what your problem is though. What lighting do you have and how's your water flow and tank parameters?

Also, acropora are very sensitive to temperature changes.

80º with minimal fluctuation during the day.

ditto for what dean said 78- 80 the less fluctuation the better

close to 80 as you can get it. Tanks can do ghosty temp spikes if a stray sunbeam wanders across the room on the first cloudless day in a month [given seasonal precession] and you want some leeway, since 85 is lethal.

Thanks guys. I didn't know that 85 was lethal.

LBCB, my water parameters are pretty standedard (according to test kits), and I have about 700 watts of lighting, but my temp changes from 78-83, a 5 degree temp change from night to day from the MH lights. i think I'll add a fan to my sump b4 trying to buy another acro frag. I assume it's the fluctuations that killed the last one.
