ok i know you are supose to add fresh water to a tank to replace the water that has evaporatied. how do you know how much water you are supose to add...i know you check the salt level in the tank but...that can take a little while to change in a 90 gal tank. any ideas or sugestions?

also should you add it to the tank or the sump

You are adding fresh water to keep the system full of water. You should know what the level of your system is when full. Add enough fresh water to keep you system at the full level. It would be best to add this water to the sump.

If you have a sump draw a full level mark or line when the tank is at the level you want to keep it at.

Then just check it from time to time and fill to that level when it evaporates. If you don't have a sump just put a small mark on your tank and do the same.

If your sump is partitioned the evaporation will only show in the area where the return pump is located.
