This morning my husband woke up with huge cold feet.
It starts at the ankle and goes into his feet. Both of them.
You can't see his ankle bones as they have dissapeared.
He also has 5 red spots like bites just above his ankles. We have fire ants here but he wears work boots and doe'snt remember them biting him.
Any suggestions as to what to do?

I'd go to the doctor. My father got cellulitis (not sure about spelling) and his legs swelled up and had red spots on them. I don't know about the coldness though. It got so bad he couldn't walk and had to spend some time in the hospital with it. Not saying that is what he has but I would definately go to the doctor and have it checked out before it gets any worse.

Here are the spots.
3 on one foot and 2 on the other
He says he feels fine.No pain in his feet or anywhere else.
Will leave it up to him as to what to do.

Get that guy to a doctor, now.

Have you been spraying the premises with anything?

Try to recall every 'unusual' thing you did re the yard, the laundry, the premises, before you head off to the doctor, and mention those things. Probably he'll get a dose of something to relieve the situation and that'll be that, and the fact that it's both feet will say something, but I'd still let a doctor take a look, and I'm a person who believes in just 'throwing some mud on it' and keeping going if I know for sure what the problem is.

Does he have diabeties?

No on the diabeties, he was at a large equipment auction on thursday and it was outside. They may have sprayed for fire ants before the auction.
He was fine before he left.
Nothing unusual around the house. I hav'nt sprayed in a month for bugs.

Forgot to mention, he refuses to go to the hospital as says he is in no pain and feels just fine, and has no problem walking. So will just wait to see what happens I guess. Stuborn

The cold part is what would worry me...especially if his feet aren't normally cold. I would get him to a doc or at the very least call one of those "Ask a Nurse" lines associated with hospitals. Might be nothing, but I wouldn't want to take a chance.

Ditto on the 'cold.' That's impaired circulation, im-uneducated-ho, and phlebitis (a blood clot) is one nasty scenario that leaps to mind---which could put a real dint in his activity schedule if not treated. Tell him they won't stick him with anything, and he should go.

I thouoght phlebitis immediately too when I read your first post. He needs to go to the Dr. Phlebitis can definately lead to a blood clot that will go into your husband's heart.

so how's the mr. doing?

Hi all, talked to his brother who went to the auction with him, he to was bitten several times on his feet and also one got under his shirt. He is swollen also.
Then talked to a nurse friend of mine and sent her a bunch of pictures, she agrees it is a reaction to the bites.
I gave him 2 aspirin for the swelling and also put ice packs on both feet and I can now see the veins on top of both feet and the swelling has gone down about 50% so will see how they look tomorrow.
I did research on the Phlebitis and some of it does apply to him, but he has no red skin and no pain.
He feels just fine.
He has always had bad reactions to fire ant stings and this seems to be the problem.
I get stung and get pustules as does he, and some the spots have now formed them on the tops.
Will let you all know in the morning how he is doing and thank you every one for your concern and help.
It is so nice to have all of you to talk to and to help.
Love to you all
