how can i kill hydroids? i noticed the colony is starting to get bigger and am worried they will sting my sps

Can you post a pic? I think there are many forms of hydroid, I just want to see wich you have. I also don't really know of a cure but, I have heard of rubbing kalk paste on them. Also taking out the rock and scrubbing it might be an option. Good luck.

I've come up with two ways that destroy hydroids.

If it's a small colony mix up some epoxy putty and cover the colony. You'll probably miss a few so you'll have to do this two or three times.

If it's a large infestation a freshwater soak is the only thing that's worked for me. Notice I said soak not dip, basically you'll be killing everything on the rock. If you're lucky and it's confined to one or two rocks do this asap or your whole tank will get infected.

no pics but from various web sites they do appear to be hydroids i guess i will try the kalk route first
