sea cucumbers any good for clean up or no big deal?

They keep the sand clean. However, they are very slow movers.

I would definitly use them but only use tiger tails and use this as a rule of thumb,

3 sq ft of sand per cuke

I have heard that cucumbers will nuke your tank if they die. Is this true? Why do you only use tigertails?

some will. but sand sifters like the tiger tails and others in the Holothuia family do release toxins when they die. their flesh is toxic to most fish however.
