that "one" guy (in this case 2).

He has 3 different signs for when he picketts.

1. Local cable service (because the black out certain channels during the week). Little does he know, the main office is 2 hours away and they're blacking out their market (ours is just a side effect).

2. The post office (because they're lazy and do nothing)

3. Local lawyer who ran a campaign to vote down the new school budget that had inflated incentives for many.

All of which are done with this big goose step as he marches back and forth.

The other guy is slightly better. He only wanders up and down the streets in summer with his shirt off playing guitar (off tune) and belting out bible hymns.

What people make your city unique??

The Amish who set up shop in the town circle (Jct. 301 & 303) and sell pies and quilts and such. Not quirky like your guy, but unique.

Naw, I just have the guy who stands at the exit from the parking lot of the grocery store, bobing his head as he listens to his Ipod, holding a sign that says "Smile, it could be worse". For some strange reason, people want to stop and give him money.

WHY? All he does is take it to the grocery store and buy lotto tickets. I know, I've seen him cash them in. I always just thought, yea it could be worse, you could actually get a job and quit blocking the exit.

Funny thing is, he just stands there everyday reading the paper, listning to his Ipod, bouncing his head, holding the sign. I've never seen him at the homeless shelter just down the street. They empty out the place everymorning when I drive by on my way to work and he's never there.

Maybe I should try taking his place sometime and see how much money he makes doing nothing.

My dad was that guy in my town. We had to ride around in a truck that had "(Insert politician name here) Sucks!" spray-painted on the sides of it. Talk about embarassing. :(

Here, there is a guy that stomps imaginary bugs constantly. He wanders up and down the sidewalks stomping.

We used to have the Peanut Man. He was a man that sold peanuts at one specific corner everyday. He did it since before I was born. (I'm 34). He died maybe 2 years ago. Just recently the city erected a bronze statue of him at his corner.

We used to have a guy that walked all over the place and he was marching. You could tell he had military experience from way he walked. He was always dressed normal and didn't bother anyone. When one of my kids was born, I met him in the hospital lobby one day and we started talking. Come to find out, he was pretty knowledgeable on a lot of subjects. Just a little different. I haven't seen him in about 15 yrs. or so.

My wife just told me of another different guy....

This old guy wandered the streets all day. He'd pick up cans (people would also leave them out for him as they just figured he was poor and they were helping him out). He always had on a walkman and always kept to himself.

He died about 2 years ago now. Turns out, it was disclosed in his will that any money he collected on a week to week basis was donated to local red cross as well as some other charities and he also left to those charities.

Every Sunday, precisely at 1 p.m., two or three people from one political pursuasion stand on the green, wave signs and shout at the two or three people of the other pursuasion on the other side of the street.

One of them wears (yes, wears) a suit made from the flag. It's a bit snug around the middle.

At precisely 2 p.m., they all pack up and go.

We've got one guy who sits on the corner in the back of his pick-up truck listening to his radio and waving American flags all year round. I guess he doesn't have anything else to do, but I honk every time I see him. Love to see the flag getting waved.

He ran for city council this spring... He didn't get elected, but I'd have voted for him!

Got an old guy around the corner from me. Everytime I ride by on the harley, he'll stop what ever he's doing and turn to wave at me with a big 'ol grin on his face. Of course I wave back. Any other time I see him, he just ignores me.

We have Baton Bob who is a cross dressing majorette. He wears a tutu, cowboy boots with pompoms, glittery gloves, shades, all kinds of other crap and marches around midtown Atlanta.

years ago, we had a young man who was well known around town. due to a brain injury at birth, he was mentally challenged. sweet guy, very friendly. he rode a bicycle from his house to the local convenience store every single day, no matter what the weather. winter, summer, you name it, he was there. he had a little pretend radio that he kept strapped to his handlebars and he would talk into it.

every time he heard a siren, he would wait for the police car or ambulance and when they would go by, he'd be in hot pursuit, peddling for all he was worth to try to keep up.

he passed away several years ago and he is truly missed. he was the unofficial greeter at the store and everybody just really misses seeing him. although he lived with his mom, no other relatives, his funeral was enormous. i do not believe many people missed the opportunity to pay their respects to him.

Our one single homeless guy who sleeps in "his car" in a run down used car lot at night. We all know he's there so we leave him alone (even the lot owner). The mayor rode with us one night and had a FIT when he found out. The guy doesn't want to live in a shelter.
We also have "Rocky". Rocky is about 40 years old and drives a scooter everywhere like a bat out of heck. He drank lighter fluid as a child and has severe brain damage. He's harmless, but LOVES the ladies. We've had to kick him out of the city pool for taking pictures of women and he is the king of porn movies. He drives his moped to the next town over because they apparently have a better selection.

On campus right by the library, we have this old crazy man who plays his damned piccolo non-stop. He's there every day during the week, and it's Stars and Stripes Forever, literally forever. Some of the shop owners nearby sued him to try to get him to stop (after many years of repeated pleas to at least change location from time to time), but he won. I hate that song now because of him.
