Working on the calla lilys and then the day lilys.
Whew. Thank goodness for the breeze.
I want to get it all done before I get layed up for a bit, have some transplanting to do to and will get that done tomorrow, I am wore out.

You bulb people!:( Daffodils seem to be the only thing that can make it through a freeze here, then there's those darn rocks! I did get one flowerbed redone tho. Saving the rest for later.

Digging out:

It will be solid blooms in no time.
I am going to run out and take some pics of the calla lilys I planted last year, they are really pretty and just starting to bloom.
For now here is one of the day lilys that opened this morning.
And the old horse trough looking pretty.

Thats a whole lotta work for one day. I wish my hostas were blooming already. I was thinking of planting some calla lily's this fall. Looks good by the way.

Debi~ That is a lot of rock, I will never have river rock around my house again it's a huge pain to get it all out.

Thanks Petie.
I have white sugar sand so is very easy to dig and drop the plants in.
Calla's went thru the hard freeze and lots of frost days here in Tx and they came back beautifully, check out wallmart now, they are getting rid of all of there spring plants and bulbs.
I may go get more.
Before they throw them all away.
I am going to talk toi the manager and make him an offer, .25 a bag and will take them all,
they have hundreds of bags yet and that would be better then tossing them all out,
either that or plan a dumpster dive.:)

are you digging by hand or using a bulb auger?

digging next to the house is always exciting! we found a 125lb chunk of concrete when i put in mom's pond/flowerbeds!

The second one is a Larkspur, probably McKenna Giant.

Hey Nemo, and other Loungers... This site http://groups.msn.com/GardenJunk/home.htm is wonderful for odd ideas and such... I actually made a headboard bench from this site... Hubby refused to help me so my dad did... Well it's no longer with me, b/c hubby wouldn't help me put it away for the winter and it died... And the photo of it is on the other computer which needs fixed again... But trust me it was bea-U-tiful...

Let me know what you think of it... It's been about a year since I was there, and it took a while to find it, but from scanning through it quickly it still seems great...

Christy...:)

Smarty pants;)
Thanks, I could'nt for the life of me think of the name of it,
cool Christy, will check it out.
I went to Tyler the other day and saw the coolest thing, it was an actual flower bed, made out of a queen size bed filled with flowers, took pictures but cant find the disk.
When I go to the hospital next week will take some pictures of it again, it was filled with impatients.
Then she had a whiskey barrel on its side and she planted about 10 feet of petunias coming out of it like they spilled out of the barrel, took pics of that to but cant find the darn disk.
One day when I find a pretty bed at a second hand store I am going to make myself a flower bed to:)

I could plant 450 in my sleep!! :D
I ordered 500 rock lilies last year

Calla lilies are nice, but do not survive the winter up here
I'm very much into plant it & forget it
My apple trees & order came in yesterday, plus I planted 4 more dogwood seedlings
Torrential rain, I'm off next 2 days - long weekend - so everything will be planted. Then I need to finish plumbing the new pool pump & filter

Garage foundation should be going in & completed by end of July
Then I get to plan my fall order

Not even close to veggies yet
I need to finish the greenhouse

Morning Dave, well then, I guess when I go out this morning you will have finished all of my bulbs ha?:)
I like the plant it and forget it also. I didnt plant any annuals other then some petunias, merrigolds , they will reseed so that will be fine.
I go for the messy look in my gardens, where there is a hole, plants something in it.
English garden style.
That way you never know what will pop up where next spring:)
besides, who has time to measure and lay out hose and plant in between, :)Just toss them in, where they land is where they get planted.
Great site, I just saw all of the bowling balls painted and decorated. Now that is a great idea. I have several balls;) and they are just swirl colored and not real pretty, will have to decorate them.
What a cool site. will look around some more.
Thanks Debi for posting the link.

Yes, I go for the full overflowing garden too.
The wife referred to the front of the last house as "The Jungle"
I have much more room to spread out here
Plus I am only starting on my 3rd year
My last house was in year 4 by the time she saw it
I expect to be transplanting a bunch of stuff this year
Warm winter & wet spring - I have a carpet of Black eyed Susan's coming up

I haven't picked up too many statuary pieces
I'm thinking of adding some this year
I have small gazing oblong sculpture that is nice
I have been thinking of a gazing ball, but wanted to wait until I had most of the heavy work completed

I still need to run electric down the side fence in the garden for lighting. I was thinking reg lights - less expensive
But may do landscape lights

Cool on the statuary. There is a company close to me that makes life size animals for the garden, I have my eye on their elephant babys, life size elephants in the garden, can you just imagine?;)
They have alligators that are 10' long, giraffes 12 feet tall ect.
Make of metal.
I love the jungle look also. My house in AZ was a jungle and the man that bought the land said he bought it for the trees and gardens It had, so guess it sold the place:)
I planted the gardens just last year as I moved here in Jan of 2005 so they are coming along great.
I am thrilled with the daylilys I put in last year, I never could grow them in Az as was to hot, but they are in full bloom here and so I put in loads more, just here and there. So they will be a surprise when they come up and bloom next year.
I saw your flowers on another thread, they are so beautiful.
Can you take a picture of your whole house from the street?
I would love to see the whole thing.
YOu have a green thumb. (for a man) ;)
Also, the red triple hollyhocks have there seed pods now but are still green, as soon as they dry will be sending you some.

I don't have anything flowering right now - well hardly anything
Some of the purple lupines are flowering, and the rock lilies on the side of the house

If it ever stops raining I'm going to take some pictures
I could of sworn I took more in the past 2 years, but can't find them

sure sure, I bet those pictures are all out of Better homes and Gardens , ;)
post some when they get going. I bet you are chomping at the bit for them to bloom, I know I do all winter.
I hate a dead garden, so drab and depressing.
I have another day lily blooming today for the first time, beautiful pink,. will go take a picture for you to get you in the mood for flowers.
By the way, send us some rain please, we are dry as a bone here and no rain in site.

The wife was complaining that there weren't any flowers blooming
I need perennials out front, just started planting them this year
I only put the gardens in out front last fall
