Home theater -- echo getting on my nerves

looks like when I play a movie the receiver shoots dialogue faster than my tv and there is an annoying echo. I like to keep the tv speakers on too because it fills in the sound the center channel leaves out, but it get s annoying trying to set volume lower than reciever to drown out the echo. I have my dvd player connected hdmi --maybe thats the problem?

If your TV is behind the centre channel, why not just set the delay on the receiver to match the TV? You might have to play with it for a little while, but you should be able to make that work.

Any good receiver offers channel-by-channel delay adjustment - that's how you correct for speaker placement.

your the man -- i knew there was a lip syncfeature but didnt play around enought turned it up 60 microsecs and def an improvement --now I just need a subwoofer and better center channel to perfect the system
