One of my zoo branches have been getting drowned out by macroalgae growing around it. Yesterday I decided to pick it off the best I could. Ever since picking this macroalgae off, it has completely transformed in appearance. The leaves that were there before seem to no be transparent and have strands growing off the end. I hope it is on it's way out, but am afraid I may have made the problem worse. Here are pics. of the algae before and after. I could use help identifying....

How much time elapsed between photos?

Wow. The first shots look like a kind of Udotea species that likes to pop up from LR every now and then.
The second photo is incredible. I really dont know enough to propose if that is a secondary algae that also popped up or if those are reproductive structures for the algae seen in the first picture.

Time elapsed between pics. is about 2 months. The leafy stuff you see in pic. 1 got really bad and that is why I picked it off. I know for sure the stems you see coming off are part of the leafy algae somehow and not a new type.
Since this post, the stems have bleached out along with the leaves. The leaves you could already see bleaching in the pic. They have begun to fall off.

To me, the second photo looks like reproductive structures. Kinda like the ones you see on mosses.
