Does CIMA do a DIY at each meeting or most meetings? If so what is the July project, if not why not?
How many CIMA members would like to DIY a Maxi-Stream in July? $20, 6 watts, and 1500gph can't be beat!

Ok, we'll if there is interest I'll take care of the parts as long as everyone pays up before hand. These are a lot less ambitious than a kalk reactor by the way! There are seriously only a handful of parts and operations.

but hey, i'm all for diy stuff.
i'd still like to build a 6' airstone skimmer sometime.

Don't be so sure. My "20 watt" MJ1200 which I use for a return pump only sucks 13 watts. My "7.5 watt" MJ600 which I converted to a Maxi-Stream only sucks 6 watts.
You can't be sure till you measure with a Kill-a-Watt. Tunze and RD are both known to bend the truth in the other direction about their power consumption.

Personally, I would love to do a Maxi-Stream 400. That should be plenty for my 29 and would let me get rid of 2 MJ1200s and a MJ900 running on a wavemaker. Plus, it would also remove a TON of clutter from my little tank.

Heh, I didn't mean to get l33t on you. Just pointing out that published power ratings are pretty sketchy at best.

Beautiful, I hadn't seen that site. I stopped following the thread after I made mine and it was successful.

wow, that adds up quick. I had thought about doing the mod myself, but im pretty tight and hate to spend money when I can scrounge it up for free somewhere...it just takes a little longer sometimes. By the way, does anyone have a mj 600 or 900 they want to sell for cheap?

What are the best sites for DIY parts and projects? Can anyone point me to a good HOB skimmer DIY?

My tank has would not have anything to frag in time but I have plenty of room outside if the weather is nice, and could show the infastructure, it is not the prettiest but it works.

I'd offer my pad but my tank may well crash during/after our move. Give me at least a month to make sure I have a tank to show you guys.
