Vacation time is coming up soon. Anyone have a float switch(life reef?) that they're looking to sell (or loan, I'll need it for 2 weeks).. LMK

Thanks, John

also, I have a new, in box , Kent float valve that I'm looking to sell. It's too big for my sump, $15

I don't have any spare ones, but the one I use is cheap. Here's the link to it:

You just need to install a relay to operate it. HTH

I second that What Falconut suggested? I used them in all of my tanks. Cheap and reliable. At least 7 months so far and going strong!

The relay I used was one from Radioshack. This is a detailed instruction for it:

What is the relay for anyway? I have mine wired without it? My float switch is wired into my dosing pump and the dosing pump is on a timer to come on at night?

Any reason for the relay?
Thanks!

the relay turns on the pump. there is a 9v battery that runs the dc side of the relay. when the switch is activated, the dc switch in the relay turns on the ac side of the relay, which turns on the pump. when the switch is deactived, it cuts the dc which in turn turns off the ac.

I've used 2 of them (1 in sump, 1 in fresh water reserve) for over a year....no issues and even custom sized both them.

I've been using the autotopoff.com units for some time now. They work great!
