upgraded my 55 from pcs to dual 250 watt 10k hamiltons. lost my frogspawn, hammer, and now my bubble. I used short time periods and had moved them low in the tank. is it still to much?

Hmmm. You sure it was the light? My frogspawn is about 6 inches directly below my 150 14K. It loves it. It came from a nano cube with PC's and never looked bad during transition. In my experience froggies are pretty tolerant / forgiving.

Is the 250w a double ended bulb? Is there UV protection glass over the bulb?

Im only assuming it was the light shock. frogspawn did great for a year under lower light pcs. a week with my halides and it was gone! bulbs are screw in style. with uv shield. i thought that moving corals to bottom and reducing time period would would be ok! ive been wrong before.

By moving them, you also changed the flow they were getting, which could have also been an issue.

I think it would have been better to mount the new lights very high over the tank, and then gradually lower them towards the water surface.

I did mount them 14 inches above water. i thought that would be enough! i also didnt move them until after i saw they were stressing, i covered the top with some screening and it looks as though things might be turning around. other than some mushrooms that were on the bottom but i think they will make it since i moved them into some shade.
