What sand and how much should i use for my refugium????????

It depends...
Some people opt for a bare bottom refugium. I put a 4" layer of aragonite sand in our refugium (medium grain size). I didn't add any live sand to our refugium, but that is an option, also (or any combination of dry sand + live sand). Essentially, if you want sand in your refugium and you want it to be functional, a 4"+ sand bed is what your looking for.

If you want it to be nice use live sand 4 inch sand bed is about right.

In my refugium I've put a 5" layer of aragonite sand and have to admit that it was a good move. My sand bed is already getting some nice colour and it did had an effect on my nitrates.

you'll definately want some sand for Pods and worms to breed. At least 3" if not 4 or more. You could also do a mud bed with some sand on top for trace element dosing.
