Hi guys I ordered a 24 gallon nanopod. I am going to have live sand, live rock, and the petstore told me I could do 1 or 2 clowns a sandsifting gobe, and a tang one of the smaller breed. Also a cleanup crew. Okay first I don't want to breed I don't have another tank will my clown breed no matter what. Even without an anenome? What is the smallest tang available I can't find one that stays small. Also it looks like the gobe's are hard to care for and that they are recommended for large water volumes. What gobe would be good? I need a sand sifter. I like the bright colors. I like the fish to look "tropical". Thank you for your help. Also do you guys order fish or go to the store and get them. I am worried about them dying.

All tangs are out ! , no matter how small it is , good gobies would be the cleaner gobies and watchmen gobies, sandsifting gobies arent good as they need a lot of life in the sand to sustain them, and im afraid theres not a lot in a nano.

No tang available for a 24
Clowns may or may not spawn, really no difference on your part, any spawn will be food for the rest of the tank.
I am not sure I would put a "Pair" of clowns in a 24 as you really only get 3 and MAYBE a 4th fish

1 Clown Yellow watchman goby, Royal Gramma (just love the royal grammas myself)

1 Clown , PsuedoChromis, Pj cardinal (fish built by committee of 4 year olds)

Clown ____________ and ______________

IMO pseudochromis are too agressive

I got a Springeri Psuedo identical to this one about 6 months ago and he does just fine with the Clown and PJ Cardinal in the 24G. He also brought the bristleworm population back down (it was getting a little crazy) Not sure how common this one is on the web (I only buy live fish locally) but this is the only one I have seen in the last couple years in the local stores.

I guess it depends on the fish, my bicolor murdered 2 of my goldies

I would say this must go in last (and this one was). Another thing is fish do have personalities of some kind. One thing about this hobby is what works one time may not work the next.

What is a Goldie?

Goldie=anthias , my bicolor was put in after them, they were fine for about 2 months and then he jus went pschyo.

I also agree that every fish has a different ' personality'

If the fish store is telling you you can put a tang in a 24gal tank, then you need to find another fish store to shop at.

So if I have 2 clowns and they lay eggs it won't mess up my water if I do nothing? No big mess? Also clean up crew what kind of stuff do I need in the 24g can I have a star fish?

The babies will most likely be eaten by other fish, for a clean up up crew i would recommend 5-10 hermits and 10-15 snails a mixture of astrea, nerite, cerith and would be best, also i wouldnt recommend a sand sifting star as there wouldnt be much micro fauna in the 24s sand bed
