I am looking at getting timers for my lighting system for the 90gl... Have seen the strips with timers built in, the timers them self, and micro-processer controlers. Anyone out there have specific ones they would rather have over another?:hmm4:

I went the cheap route and got appliance timers from Harbor Freight. They have 2 grounded outlets and are rated for high wattage. I wasn't sure how long they'd last but I've had them 3+ years now. I think I paid like $6 each on sale. Probably the best $6 I've spent on my reef. :D

cool, I found this site

and was thinking about it...but it may be to much for just a 90gl.

I would not get the electronic strip timers. The one I had would lose it's settings if the power went off. I recently saw some of those type at HD for $10. Went with the standard 24 hr dial timer strip. 4 outlets always on, 4 on the timer. $20 at Lowes.

The thing I didn't like about the power strips with timmers was that either they controled too many of the outlets, or their wasn't enough control over the outlets it had (only one timmer for all 4). In the past I used the old dial timmers, but if the power goes out your timer stops for that period of time. Finally I found digital timers with battery backup at Lowes.
These things rock, when the power comes back on they act like nothing happened. Want to customize your lighting so the fish can sleep in on the weekend? These bad boys will let you program for each day if you want or the week or weekend...
