Im considering upgrading from my 54 corner to an Oceanic 178. The tanks dimensions are 60x24x29, Id like to do a combination of t5 and MH. I was thinking 2x250 MH and 2 or 4 T5's

what do people think of this idea?

would you do SE or DE , and what reflectors are best with each setup?

Ive been reading thru all the treads i can find on this and ive seen alot of talk about the Luminarc reflectors for the SE bulbs but people also seem to say that you dont need to change the bulbs on the DE as frequently.

Anyone that can shed some light :) on this please do!

thanks!

Well if you go with the LAIII then you might able to get away with two. The effective area of MH is usually a 2'X2' area. If you put them a little closer then the edges will be a little darker but then you can hve lower light critters there if you wanted. I would do SE as the DE lights are little more focused and would really need 3X250's for a 60" tank. As fars as T5's the Blue+ lamps are good but dont have that pop like the VHO actinic, however UVL(used to be URI) has T5HO lamps out in all the same VHO flavors. HTH

2X250W MH in Lumenarc III's is perfect.

I have 2x250W XM 10K in Lumenarc III with 3x140W VHO and it works great for me.

My tank measures 60Lx36Wx24H
