I'm thinking about a new tank and for various reasons I need more return flow then the normal corner overflows can provide.
I was thinking about cutting a couple of large horizontle slots into the back of the tank and siliconeing a external overflow box to the back of the tank.
I know I have seen projects like this in this forum in the past but since ReefCentral's search function doesn't really seem to work anymore I was hoping someone would have a link or could lend some info.
The tank will be a 180g, there will be two or three slots around 10"x1.5", and the external boxes will probably be about 10"x10"x5" with 2" bulkheads back to the sump.
Any idea how much water I can pass through a slot that size?
Any idea how thick the glass should be on the external boxes? I figure they won't have much water in them so they don't need to be very thick.
Any idea if this is even a good idea?
Thanks
Jon
