first post.. so welcome!! =)

shop around for a used euroreef or ASM, most likely run around $130-150, perhaps a RS-80 or RS5-2 or 5-3 or even a larger size if you can find or a ASM G1X or G2. look on RC or locally. both should work great for you size tank..

Coralife SS 65 for $89 plus shipping, or the SS 125 for around $130 I think.

Get the Coralife 125. It's much better than the 65 and the ASM mini, and it's in your price range.

Agree w/that.
65 wouldn't quite do it for me.
125 is better, better HO bracket and has drain plug on cup.

i was reading a another thread somewhere on here, and this guy said he had his p-skimmer running for a few years and now its not working. do they "go bad" after a while?

I can't really see where they could "go bad" per se, but I can see the impeller getting clogged, or detritus/sponge build up in the tube reducing the amount of skimmate produced, or o-rings wearing out (especially if ozonizing), etc.

A good maintenance schedule should prolong the use of a good skimmer far longer than you're going to need it (skimmer technology is one of those things that's always improving - eventually you'll want a bigger/better/newer design).
