400watt Radium HQI mogul Vs. 250watt Radium HQI mogul

Ran off PFO hqi ballast, not double ended, but mogul 250, vs 400. 20k radiums.


Colorwise.... who wins?

Intensity.... how much more intense are the 400's?

2 x 250 or 1 x 400 ?

I currently have 1 x 400 hqi radium on my tank, thinking to upgrading to 2 x 250 hqi radium (mogul).

Please tell me your experiences with 250 watt mogul based 20k radiums, ran by an HQI ballast.

The 250W looks just a little more blue on an HQI than the 400W does..........I think this is just an optical illusion because of the less wattage, the less white you are going to see. HTH

I think someone in the "dream lighting" thread posted that the mogul based radiums only last 6 months vs. 18 months for the dual ended. If there is any basis in this its worth checking out double ended instead.

That's why I decided to go with 250W Double ended. I think you spend a little more when you first buy it but save it in the long run.
