I have a 100 gal tank with 20 gal refugium and 30 gal sump currently running. (Full of corals..SPS, xenia, LPS and few fish)

In couple of weeks, i will be upgrading to 240 gal with 50 gal sump and 40 gal refugium.

My plan is to 1st add 4" dry sand to the main 240 and let it become clear....then transfer all the 6" DSB (~100 lbs) from the 20 gal refugium into the 240 along with half of LR from the main tank (~ 125-150 lbs).

I will let this cycle for few weeks to max. one month. TOO LONG?
While all my livestocks are living inside the 100 gal...
also, i will transfer about 30 gal of water from the 100 gal into the 240 and do a waterchange for the 100 gal.

Sound good? any other process i might have left out?

also, is it necessary to add few fish during this mini cycle process? (like a damsel?)

I did just about the same when I cosolidated my 90 and 80 gal into my 550. It worked just fine. I added my purple tang after a month to clean up the algae that grew. After a couple more weeks I transferred most everything else.

Regards,
Kevin
