Hello All,

I am staying in Mumbai...have been a fresh water aquarium hobbyist all this while since years along. One fine day i happened to come across this huge fish tanks in one of our Mumbai's western suburbs (known as Bandra). My eyes was stuck onto the tank so i went ahead to have a beter glance. The board said "Fresh & Marine" aquarium...i was curious and i went inside this shop. That was the day when i got mesmerised by the beautiful marine fishes which i saw...The first ever fish i glanced at was Nemo errr the Clown Fish and also Dory :-)
wow ..and many more...i instantly made up my mind , come what may, i will get myself a marine aquarium...and thats what i did the very next day... i made the purchases on all the basic requirements worth 8800 INR.
The only problem i face is that i dunno what to do with the stuff i got (Sea Salt / Crushed Coral / Canister Filter / Ph tester / Protein Skimmer / Bacteria / NO2 tester / PSB. The Aquarium keeper said he is not available to guide me to go aout till next 10 days as he is out of town...Now i cant wait to begin so i need help from you all...Specially if some one in from Mumbai city wanna volunteer help..which could be even telephonic...Anyone ready to help me?

Hmm, I'm definitely not local. :) This thread might be worth reading, though:

I'm not local either. But, you could start by mixing up the salt and water in some food grade plastic containers. Can you get reverse osmosis/de-ionized water? If so that is what you should use. Otherwise I'd use distilled. I don't know about in India but most American hobbyists find that using tap water causes algae problems because of impurities. Did you get something like a hydrometer or refractometer to measure the salinity/specific gravity? You could also get your pH adjusted. I know that this is not nearly as exciting as getting your tank set up :D but at least is is a first step.
