I have never seen exactly how mushrooms look when they reproduce. I have a mushroom that has moved about 2 inches from where it was and it is still attatched but now it is stretched out on the rock. Is this eventually going to split and reproduce?

That is what my shrooms have been doing. The mother head stretches way out shrivles up a bit and falls off leaving a new shroom in its place. The shrooms that fall off have all been colecting in the back of my tank, where I now have a shroom forest.

yup, that's how it works.

you can also take a mushroom, cut it with a razor or stainless scissors at the base where it is attached to the rock, and then cut it in half (or more pieces) through the mouth. put the pieces in a rubbermaid container with a gravel covering and they will attach to a piece of gravel and become full mushrooms. the tiny piece that you left attached to the original rock will also grow into another mushroom.

Yea i read some posts on cutting them, but it just doesnt seem right to cut up a mushroom like a pizza and stick it with toothpicks :) Im glad to see these finally starting to reproduce, they have been in the tank for about 2 months. on a side note the xenia frag i got at the same time has probally trippled

Once they start splitting they don't stop.

They do go nuts eventually. I had one as a hitchhiker, for about a year he did nothing. Then two months ago it split, and now i have at least 6 or 7 tiny ones on their way up.

Surprsingly I had a mushroom crash (the blue ones) over a 3 day period. During a business trip to boot. Came home and 90% of the buggers were gone! They dumped a bunch of excess nutrients in the water so I had a red slime problem for a while.

Up until then I did not think that you could kill a mushroom

And no I do not want any offers for replacements :D
