Well after two years together my clown and coral beauty decided to declare war against each other. Both took one hell of the beating but the coral beauty got it the worst. To my amazement I was able to get the clown out to end the war. Its not so much a beauty anymore since it looks like it went through a meat grinder.

Okay, so two years living together, for no apparent reason, two fish start fighting. Could this cause stress and the resulting ich?

Cause ich, no. Ich is not caused by stress, but rather a parasite. If there is no ich in the tank, stress will not make ich appear. If, however, Ich is in the tank, the stress may cause the spots to appear.
