I will be looking to buy an assortment of corals in the next few weeks. Is there any desire from anyone to make this a group buy? I will probably make the free shipping quota myself, so it could be a great way to save money. I am not sure yet where to order from, so any suggestions/ preferences? Past experiences?

What type of LS are you looking for?

You need to get a group buy setup through the club admins. Contact Henry to find out more info on getting group buys going.

I will be ordering sps frags/ colonies, as for the group buy thing..I wasn't looking for a discount through the group, I am just saying that I will be ordering and if anyone wants in on my order, they are welcome.

You still might want to get in touch with Henry to keep the problems from starting. I am just trying to help you out man that's all.

Would you want to go halfs on a frag pack from Reefermadness or DR mac? 18- $200 or 20 - $200

I've heard very good things about both and they are vendors here.

I may consider it, but I am more interested in picking out what I get(which costs a bit more) but if I have some money left over I might split a pack to use for growing out and fragging.

thanks blooper,

this doesn't really seem l ike a group buy of sorts. group buys are where we negotiate with retailers for discounts on large group purchases. if smorrow just wants to split shipping with people i see no reason to concern ourselves with approaching retailers or collecting funds undeer the CIMA title.

Ok let me know when you find some where you want to order from. I should be intrested in something.

Another thing to condier is liveaquaria has free shipping on orders over $225, Dr mac has free shipping on orders over $200 and reefermadness has there shipping already in the price but I think there is a $10 box fee.

I know badbu placed a frag order with reefermadness I'm not sure how well he liked it.

i might be interested in a couple.

I'd order from reefermadness again. I've done it twice now.

Let me know where you were thinking, I'd like to try live aquaria.

I know it wasn't looked too highly upon last time I mentioned this, but I figured I would also mention Extreme Corals once again. If you place your order by noon tomorrow then you get 50% off of everything on their site, and if it's your first time ordering through them you get $25 off ..... and free shipping on order of at least $150. Wish I would have waited to place my order.

Just figured someone may be interested, as that makes their prices MUCH MUCH more affordable.

brad23
04/04/2006, 08:30 PM
I would say liveaquaria but they don't have the Bimac anthias in stock anymore.

One more thing to consider also is liveaquaria has the best online warrenty of any site

14 days, you can't even get that form the LFS

sweet!

i'm going to order the green yumas that they have. if anyone else wants in on this deal, shoot me a pm and i'll add to the order.

if not, i'll just order enough stuff to qualify for the free shipping anyway.

(sorry, this is about extreme corals...the 50% off deal and free shipping)

Coral Fanatics and LiveAquaria are the main two I have been looking at as well as a few others, I will let you know well before I order, and am open to any other suggestions. I prefer to see the actual frag I am going to buy even if it costs more. I don't want a tank full of corals that I am not happy with.

Benny Z
04/04/2006, 09:35 PM
sean, check out the extreme corals site. if you're ready now i can include your order with mine. they have wysiwyg pictures of their pieces.

smorrow5773
04/04/2006, 09:40 PM
I just did, and I am not impressed with any of their sps, even with 1/2 off I am finding at least $10 price difference. The shipping won't be a deal for me either as I will be spending alot more than the minimum when I order.

Benny Z
04/04/2006, 09:43 PM
gotcha... just thought i'd offer.

the only thing i'm really interested in is the green yuma ricordia rock. lol i emailed them to see if they have any more that might not be on the site.

smorrow5773
04/04/2006, 09:47 PM
Coral Fanatics has some great looking pieces on their site right now, slightly more expensive than some of the others, still less than Extreme's 1/2 off, and just look at the colors!!!

Benny Z
04/04/2006, 10:49 PM
ok, they have some ricordia i'd be interested in. let me know when you order. i'll probably jump in for $25-$50 worth.

brad23
04/04/2006, 11:06 PM
I'd like some ricordia as well, coral fanatics don't have to much on there site.

Benny Z
04/05/2006, 10:46 AM
placed the order with extreme corals. we got a nice red lobo, a small frogspawn, a large acanthastrea, and some green ricordia yuma polyps.

$169.xx shipped.

04/05/2006, 11:13 AM
Well, I'm glad I mentioned it now :)

brad23
04/05/2006, 11:18 AM
I got a huge 9 inch peace for $65, I think it's Favia not a ACAN

http://www.******************/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EC&Product_Code=acan_3-19-01&Category_Code=New

Either way it's still a very good deal.

brad23
04/05/2006, 03:35 PM
It is a Acanthastrea hillae, 2nd pic

our order came today and we met at fedex to pick it up.

...pick up the dripping wet box, that is.

NOT impressed with the shipping method one bit. none of the bags had much water left in them...the frogspawn had nearly zero water in it. the pieces i put in my tank seem to be ok...we'll see how they're doing tomorrow.

but again, i can't stress enough how disappointed we were with the shipping. extreme corals gets a big thumbs down with that respect from all three of us.

hopefully the pieces make up for the soggy box mess after they've fully acclimated.

I was not pleased at all with this, my peace had a lot more die off than the online pics showed.

FWIW, They packed mine up great.

brad23

I just looked on their site and everything is $35 now.

blooper74
04/06/2006, 02:40 PM
Nice

brad23
04/06/2006, 02:46 PM
If anyone is going to place a order there soon let me know, $35 is a steal for a lot of peaces of LPS and SPS they have left.

extreme corals resolved this issue this morning by applying a partial refund to my paypal account.

just wanted to give an update.

brad23
04/08/2006, 05:24 PM
They took care of me also and told me I could keep the coral.

Here are some pics, I think some of it will pull through.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b114/bigwrxguy/IMG_0679.jpg

It's a ACAN of some kind I'm trying to get a ID in the LPS forum.

llewoh05
04/08/2006, 08:58 PM
ive got some of that. it called green moon (favites abdita).

brad23
04/08/2006, 09:33 PM
Wrong, it's a type of Acan probably a Acanthastrea Hillae. Most agree in the LPS forum that it isn't a Favia.

Read through this.

And it looks like the second pic in this link.

http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/001-100/Species%20pages/3.htm

The brown on it is soft and not hard and tall like a Favite would be.

After hours of searching, I have decided to order from liveaquaria.com. They seem to have the best selection and decent prices. On all the other vendors, I only find one or two that I am interested in, not hardly worth the order. If anyone wants to get in on this order let me know, I am shooting for delivery next week. We will see what works best for interested parties.

brad23
04/13/2006, 10:16 PM
Possibly intrested in there Bimac anthias. I'll see if they have them in stock. When is the latest day you need to know to by?

brad23
04/13/2006, 10:23 PM
They only have the females in stock, I'll probably get something. Might pick up the scotts fairy wrasse or a pair of true percs.

Benny Z
04/13/2006, 10:32 PM
i *might* pic up a head of their orange and blue yuma ricordias. i dunno, though $100 is a lot for a single polyp. when are you going to place the order? i will probably at least be in for some snails.

smorrow5773
04/14/2006, 07:35 AM
I am in no hurry, I figured I would see what works for everyone. As long as the order is placed by Thurs morning, it will be next day delivery. I will be hard pressed to find time to get package Mon-Wed.

brad23
04/14/2006, 08:34 AM
Ok sounds good

saltyseaman
04/15/2006, 09:31 PM
I'm not sure what you are ordering, but you may want to check out www.sharkysreef.com and see if they have it. They have a nice selection of corals that just went on sale at some pretty awesome prices. Also, be sure to become a member and look through their members only section. YOu get a $5 coupon for becoming a member and they have a lot of really cool stuff in that section. They also do $20 ground shipping because we are so close.

If you decide to place an order there, I'd hop in on some stuff.

brad23
04/20/2006, 08:22 AM
So is this still going ahead today?

saltyseaman
04/21/2006, 01:24 AM
Did you guys allready place your order?

Browsing DF&S's site I found a couple of fish I have been looking for. I'm going to be placing an order from them for Tuesday delivery. Saw a couple of corals I liked too, but their prices are a bit steep for me for the WYSIWYG corals. I'm really liking those blue rics :D .

If anyone wants to hop on my order, shoot me a PM. I'll be calling tomorrow to confirm the fish I want are still in stock and asking how long I have to add on to the order.

saltyseaman
04/21/2006, 10:09 AM
Well, I started my order process. If anyone want in on it they should let me know by 5PM Sunday night.
