Just a question before I start making my new sump. Is silicone sealant the same as aquarium sealant? The silicone sealant I bought is for use with lexan, plastic and poly carbonate. It says it can be an irritant prior to curing if in contact w/skin, eyes, etc. It contains some pretty funky stuff that I won't try to spell. I just don't want to use anything that will end up screwing up the system (or its inhabitants) in the future...

I think the only thing you really need to look for is if it says 100% silicone on the label. I believe some silicone sealants have additives such as fungicide in them.

be shure it does not have anti fungal chemicals in it or you'll kill any thing you put in the tank
