I've seen onyx used in tanks before, and it looks quite nice.

i used the live sand in a bag, fiji pink :D I have no idea what it is from thoes options though, think its calcium based.

I like both sand and crushed coral for substrates. I honestly think bare bottom tanks don't look as nice, but that is of course just a matter of opinion.

Hmmmm, I voted other because I used the Florida live sand from Premium Aquatics and I'm not sure of the composition. I also used some of their bottom "crud" so my substrate isn't pretty and smooth and white - quite a bit of crushed coral.
