hi, i'm setting up a 20g and i don't want to have to quarintine(no tank to use but a 5g) i was thinking i could get all tank-bred fish. would that work?

In a word, no. Just because they are tank-bred doesn't mean they don't care disease or parasites. It might mean they are clean but it might also mean that they could but immune or simply carrying the disease and when you introduce the fish to your tank you will also be introducing it to all your other fish. Whether you quarintine is up to you but I don't want you to get the idea that buying tank-bred fish will prevent disease. One other problem with tank bred fish is that they generally haven't been exposed to a variety of diseases like an ocean caught one, so they don't have a very strong immune system.
