Try small fish like blennies and or gobies, if you can get one paired to a pistol shrimp that will be a good and interesting sight.

I have 2 yellow clown gobies, a yellow watchman, a purple firefish and a green clown goby in my 24 pod pc.

They are most excellent fish.

I have a tank raised clown and a royal gramma (who is very skiddish, always hides). Had a orange stripe prawn goby but he didn't survive. Looking into a helfrichi firefish because they are beautiful!

Grammas and psuedochromis are slightly aggresive, but are bright and colorful.

I would not recomend a mandarin in a small tank unless you plan on continuous feeding live foods. They require large pods population which a small tank can not support.

I love my catalina.....

She is full of personality...and always easy to spot!!!

I tried a jawfish...they will dump sand on your corals...and mine jumped out of a little bitty whole...so no more jawfish

I'm going to go with my pseudochromis (fridmani/orchid dottyback) very colorful and non-aggressive to my sailfin blenny.
