I was wondering if anyone had a frag of reddish monti cap that I could buy (and maybe pick-up at the meeting)? I'm looking for something really bright. For reference, I really like the colony that is in the display tank at the Critter, but I don't think they'll let me reach in and grab a piece.

Thanks

I believe that's a Orange Cap in their display tank. I recently bought one from C_Stowers, ask him if he has any available!

The Critter got that cap from me. C_stowers also got his cap from me. Just so you know it's the same one:)

I got a Orange Montipora Hodgsoni Cap from commiphora. Still trying to figure out the difference between that that the orange cap. I'm wondering if the thickness has something to do with it, in which case I find AC's (fishdoc's) and the one I got to be very similar. There are a fe pics of the hodg on this site...

Who got it from me.:D Of course mine died, due to monti eating nudibranches I suspect so I don't have any.

C_Stowers, I'm definitely up for a frag of the cap. Your box was full, so if you can PM me a price and let me know if you'll be at the meeting that would be great. Nice pics of your tank.

Thanks

And thanks for all of the info on the origins of the orange cap... some corals really seem to get around.

Replied to all PM's. Anyone else want a frag? It looks like I will be cutting a few for tommorows meeting. The frags range from $5-$15. I also have some green cap available.

I haven't ever seen a green or orange in the pics I have seen in your thread Wooglin.

Mine did not come from fishdoc, even though it looks just like the one from the c_stowers link. BTW, none of them are likely truly M. capricornus; mine is more likely M. florida. The purple "cap" I have is the hodgsoni, as it displays the perpendicular ridges and has the unique tiny blue polyps. Not that it really matters, though, as all "caps" are beautiful corals.
