Well, so far so good. I know people say that a nano is not good to start out with, but that is all I have room or money for. It is a 2.5 gallon with about 5 pounds of live rock. There are some interesting things on the rock that I got. I think that there is a red ball sponge. I do have some bubble algae that I will get rid of. The light is a 50/50 15 watt reef sun in a walmart fixture mounted above the tank. Flter is an aquaclear 30. I do have a question about that. Should I leave all the media that came with the filter, or should I take it all out and use lr rubble? With the light that I have can I eventually keep some corals? Let me know what you guys think. I am trying to add pics now.

welcome to RC :)

do you have a bigger pic of your setup? how big is a AC30? I would probably keep the filter media in there myself. the ac500 i have ... has been converted into a HOB sump w/ LR rubble.

you could keep some shrooms and softies no problem witht hat light. also regarding the AC 30, i would use rubble instead of the sponge as the sponge can breed nitrates. If you can, try to get an auto-top off (ATO) system. It would help with a tank that small. There is a thread floating around here about a gravity ATO that is good on a budget. Although i cant remember where it is.

good luck and keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I don't have a larger pic, because RC only allows a certain size. I think I will use LR rubble in the filter. I don't knwo the dimensions on the filter, but it pumps 150 gph. What is the dosing thing for?

Another question. The fission nano skimmer, can it be used outside of the aquarium? There is no space inside it for a skimmer and it looks like a good price.

i dont recommend the nano fission skimmer, i have only heard bad things about them. plus your tank is so small i dont think you will need one.
just keep the amount of nutrients low

I'm pretty excited!!! I found a tee little tiny feather duster on one of my rocks. It is so awesome. It is too small to get a pic of. Maybe when it grows a little bit.

speaking of the skimmer, AquaC is coming out with a "NANO" remora for tanks from 5 to 25 gallons.
