Someone asked me the other day what the lifespan of a seahorse was, and I realized I didn't really know! So I thought it would be fun to ask on here, to see who has the old seahorse!

Mine Erectus pair will be a year next month!

My oldest currently was born 10/18/03. I did have one that was at least 4 years old, unfortunately we lost her to disease last summer. I have heard of seahorses 6-7 years old.

I got my WC reidi in Jan of 01. He was a full grown adult then, as he is now. So he is at least 6, but probably older. His mate died last year of suspected old age, no sign of any illness, she was at least 5.

The oldest I have heard is 7, the seahorse was also WC and went blind after some time. Was unable to eat and withered away.

I got my WC reidi in Aug 2002 from a fellow club member who had received him in Jan 2002. He was an adult then. He died of old age Jan 2006, so I know for a fact he was at least 4. There is no way of knowing how old he was when he was captured.

I got his mate in Sept 2002. She was also an adult WC reidi. She died in Feb 2006 from a broken heart, so she was also at least 4 yrs old.

This is definitely a gruesome question, but, how do you guys dispose of your horses that die?
