View Full Version : hawaii'an spotted puffer fish question

:) just came back yesterday from maui and loved what appeared to be a hawaii'an spotted puffer. But all my searches on the net looking for this fish- they all look a bit different than everyone I saw in maui. I even looked in a species index which said they only grow to 5 inches long, which I know is not correct because I saw several larger ones at the maui aquarium.

they look like the spotted puffer, but the spots are very small and they have yellow fins.

I will try and post a pic of the fish tomorrow, but does anyone have any idea what this fish is?

I know these fish are available for sale because my gf saw the exact same fish in an office building aquarium about a year ago.

Looks like it may be what is called a "Stars and stripes" puffer.

those are some cool puffer fish huh bergamer?

i was in Maui for the new years and went snorkeling there and seen those they get pretty big too!

seen lots of nice fish out there
