I have my maxi jet 900 set up to return water into my tank at 230 gph, but I think the Y-connector and flare nozzles reduce that greatly, should I replace this setup with a hydor FLO?

I have the exact same tank and pump as you, and I have mixed feelings about the Hydor. I just switched back (temporarily) to a Y splitter. The hydor was getting covered in reddish algae, and I noticed a dead spot on the back wall of my tank. This spot didn't seem to happen with the Y splitter, especially since you can change the flow pattern at any given time. Even with my original pump and single exit nozzle I never seemed to have this problem before - so I admit I'm a bit stumped.

And yes, the Y nozzle does cut down the flow a bit, but so did the Hydor. Neither of them put out the kind of flow that I got when there was nothing connected to the exit hole.

But my flow seems soooo low, like it moves the top of the water, but I can barely see particles moving in the bottom of the tank, it seems liek nothing comes out of the nozzles. Maybe I should just go back to the single nozzle or nothing coming out of the exit hole for not, but I just put the sand and rock in yesterday, so should I wait to see?

I have a stock pump and was wondering how did you get the maxi jet 900 to fit.

I didn't even use the suction cups to hang it on. The elbow joint it plugs into is strong enough to hold it up. It was simple as pie.
Facing towards the left side of the tank is the intake tube. The outflow is plugged into the old outflow. These pics were taken before I added the Y splitter or Hydor.
