I have a mated pair of clowns in a blue carpet anemone. The smaller clowns pectoral fins remain shredded all the time. I have had the pair for about 4 weeks now. Both eat well and I feed 3x a day. I never see them fighting however the clown with the shredded fins spends most of the time in the anemones folds but not on the tentacle side. The larger one which I assume is the female spends most of the time rubbing up against the tentacles. Both clowns look to be healthy and fat. Now for the question: Is the female shredding the males fins? and is this just part of their natural behavior?
