New Shots of Tank, Still Learning

Here's my latest attempt. This time, I turned off the actinics. I think the color is a bit better. Comments are appreciated.

Right on DaveM! I just hit my 600th pic on my cam since January, and only 100 of those MAX are of the kids :rolleyes:

Full tank shots are a toughy... I usually either use spot metering on a bright coral at the top of the tank, or lower the ev to -1 or so. You really don't want the camera to adjust to all the "dark" area surrounding the tank (many cams will average lighting). Also, make sure your white balance is on daylight mode.
Experiment with exposures, flash or no flash, and especially with turning off your actinics, as most cameras are overly sensitive to the 420 nm spectrum.

As always Dave, thanks so much for the advice. I will try your suggestions out tonight. I've taken dozens of pics already but I'm not yet happy with the results. But, I am making progress. I'll keep everyone updated.

i did my tank in three sections with a tripod then paste them together useing photoshop or paintshop pro.. msg me if you need things :)

I have a tripod and the camera has a stich assist mode. Give's me something else to play with. Gotta have my toys.:D

If I wasn't so damn cheap and lazy, I'd offer you FTP space to post pics on our site... but much to Keith's chagrin, I haven't gotten that working again yet.
Either way, if you want a hole to poop some pictures into, you can eMail them to me, and I'll make a directory for you on usr.myip.org. Space is pretty much limited by how much Porn I have downloaded onto that drive at any given moment, so don't worry about sending the big'un's.
