WoW. That is a good question. Mine will usually test at around 460. What is your PH and ALK at? Mine is around 9DKH and 8.1PH.

500 is not dangerious. Just dont dose any more and keep you alk up a lil higher for now.

Ummm, Calcium at 500 ppm is not dangerous by itself, but unusually high Ca concentration together with unusually high alkalinity can cause a calcium carbonate precipitation event commonly known as a "snow storm" If one is higher than usual, you may want to keep the other a little lower than usual. Forcing them both to the upper limits is asking for trouble.

I run both at the upper limits to push coral growth. seems to work quit nicely. I dont run over 500 tho. BUt dont mind keeping up to that point.

I used to have the same problem, I for a while my calcium would not drop under 500 for two months, there was no significant sufferage in any of the livestock but I dont know if it has done any long term damage. Anyhow, seems like if your calcium is too high your alkalinity will drop and if you raise your KH your CA will rise ... Just keep an eye on it, once your coraline algae gets going your calcium will be sucked out of the system like crazy.

You are on the high end on both. Good your PH is not high, with that Calcium and Alkalinity if your PH rise to 8.5 you run the risk of "snow effect" abiotic precipitation.
I would stop any supplements until Ca drops to about 425 and Alkalinity to 180 ppm and keep watching after your PH.
