I am currently waiting on delivery of a custom aquarium 7' long 30" wide and 24" deep. It will be viewable from both sides. I will aquascape what might best be described as a mountain ridge running the length. Here's the lighting issue... Since I will have the ridge running down the middle, would it be best to have lighting arranged in two rows running the length of the tank? I'm thinking if I just run one fixture down the center, then I will have very intense lighting on the top of the ridge and inadequate lighting in the deeper parts between the ridge and the glass. Also, since it is an odd length, I'm thinking I might do best to have a number of 24" fixtures set perpendicular to the front of the tank. I am toying with the idea of something like the Odyssea 20" fixture which has a 175w MH and 2 24W Compact Flourescents plus moon lights. Five of these fixtures would give me about 1250 watts total for a 240 gallon tank. I will be very happy to get any comments, ideas or suggestions.
