skimmer output

How long should a new setup to begin showing protein output in the skimmer? My tank is about 1 week old (live rock & sand), and although my skimmer makes great microbubbles, there is no froth or collection in the cup yet. Thanks for any insight!

Some can take up to a month to fully break in... could it be possible you don't have anything to skim out right now? What do you have in your tank?
